Teeth Grinding

Teeth grinding, medically known as bruxism, is a common condition characterized by the involuntary grinding, clenching, or gnashing of teeth.

While it predominantly occurs during sleep, it can also happen during waking hours, termed as awake bruxism. This habit can lead to various issues, including jaw pain, headaches, and damage to the teeth and other oral structures.

The causes of bruxism are multifactorial and can include stress, anxiety, and tension. Emotional stress and frustration are often associated with Bruxism, and it can serve as a subconscious response to relieve pent-up emotions. Additionally, certain sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, where breathing interruptions trigger muscle activity, can lead to Bruxism as the body tries to open the airway.

To address Bruxism, Bespoke by Dr Bejma offers Botulinum Toxin as an effective treatment. While commonly used for cosmetic purposes to reduce wrinkles, Botulinum Toxin also has medical benefits. When injected into specific facial and neck muscles, it helps relax them, reducing the frequency and intensity of Bruxism. The treatment may also alleviate jaw tension and pain, as well as minimize the potential damage caused by grinding.

Botulinum Toxin works by temporarily blocking the signals between nerves and muscles. When injected into the muscles involved in jaw clenching and grinding, it induces a relaxation effect by inhibiting the muscle’s ability to contract forcefully.   Beautiful clinic, lovely staff, Agi carried out my 4th Morpheus8 face and neck session today, I had 3 sessions 4 weeks apart over 18months ago and this was a little top up, Agi was so lovely, she made sure I was comfortable the whole time and talked me through it, the stronger numbing cream used beforehand and the cooling device made it completely bearable, can’t wait to see the results, really lifted and tightened my skin on my previous sessions.   Having entered the last year of my 30s, I recently decided to take the plunge, and booked a Hydrafacial at Dr Bejma Medical Clinic, Leeds. Being the typical guy, previously my skin care routine consisted of soap and a quick rinse twice day.
My initial apprehension and nervousness was soon put to rest. The patient care from booking, to treatment, through to after care and advice (much needed) was first outstanding. All staff were highly knowledge and quick to put my mind at ease.
