Stretch Marks

Stretch marks, also known as striae, are visible lines or streaks that appear on the skin.

They can vary in color and texture, typically starting as red, pink, or purple marks and eventually fading to a lighter, silvery-white shade over time. Stretch marks often occur when the skin stretches or shrinks rapidly due to factors such as pregnancy, growth spurts, weight fluctuations, hormonal changes, or certain medical conditions.

When the skin stretches or contracts quickly, the underlying connective tissues, such as collagen and elastin fibers, can become damaged or disrupted. This can lead to the appearance of stretch marks on the affected areas of the body, most commonly on the abdomen, breasts, thighs, hips, and buttocks.

While stretch marks are harmless and do not cause any physical health concerns, they can be a cosmetic concern for many individuals. They may affect self-confidence, especially when they are prominent or in highly visible areas of the body.
