Dermal Filler Dissolving

The process typically involves the use of an enzyme called Hyaluronidase, which breaks down the hyaluronic acid present in most dermal fillers. Hyaluronidase is administered through injections, usually mixed with saline to create a solution that is carefully injected into the targeted area. Once injected, the enzyme works to break down the hyaluronic acid molecules, allowing them to be naturally absorbed by the body. The dissolving process usually takes effect within minutes, but the final results may take up to 24 hours to become fully apparent.

Do I need a patch test?
As a safety precaution, a patch test is typically conducted at least 20 minutes before administering the hyaluronidase enzyme. This test aims to identify any immediate allergic reactions that could potentially make the injection of the enzyme unsafe. During the patch test, the skin is observed for signs of allergy, such as itching, redness, or the development of a wheal. If there are no indications of an allergic reaction after the 20-minute period, it is generally considered safe to proceed with the treatment. This step ensures the well-being of the patient and allows for a confident and secure administration of the hyaluronidase enzyme.
Is it painful?
Dissolving filler is not painful. We provide numbing cream to minimise any discomfort.
Will the filler be dissolved completely in one session?
The number of sessions required for dissolving Hyaluronic acid fillers can vary based on the specific type of filler used. Larger molecule fillers commonly utilized for areas like the cheeks, chin, or jawlines may necessitate more than one session for complete dissolution. At our clinic, we prioritize regular patient reviews and follow-ups, typically scheduled two weeks after the initial treatment. During these assessments, we carefully evaluate the results and determine if any additional injections or top-ups are necessary to achieve the desired outcome. Our dedicated team ensures thorough monitoring and adjustment, ensuring that your treatment journey is optimized for the best possible results.
Is there any downtime?
Like any injection, there is a possibility of experiencing temporary effects such as redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising. These effects typically subside within 2-3 days, although bruises may sometimes take longer to fade.
Please note if you are wanting to have the same area re-treated with Dermal Filler, you must wait 2 weeks between dissolving and added new filler.
